Quilt Number: 21 Square Number: 13

Name: Paul John Carlin

TELL US ABOUT THIS PERSON

This quilt square is in memory of my husband, Paul Carlin. This square has Paul in his boy scouts uniform; he enjoyed being one of the scout masters for Garden City Troop #740. He loved helping the young boys get their qualification, for merit badges so they could advance to Eagle Scout. Paul also was the cook, quarter master and treasurer for the troop. The two awards he was always proud to wear was his own Eagle Scout medal and the AD+Altare+DEI he earned when he was a young boy.

I submitted two quilt squares for the Donor Family Quilt in memory of our very dear friend Paul Carlin. Both are very basic patterns; square #1 is named Kathryn’s Star and square #2 is named old Tippecanoe. I was honored when asked to do this project. As mentioned, Paul was a very dear family friend and worked relentlessly with the Boy Scout Troop 740 of Garden City, Michigan. Thank you, Blessings- Mary Morgan

Paul Carlin was a great man with outstanding morals who left a positive lasting effect with everyone he met. He was an Eagle Scout and led his younger brother, Gary, and his son, Chris, to earn theirs also. Here is a prime example of what the Scout Oath and Law call for. Here is a true man.
