Gift of Life Michigan is a non-profit, full-service organ and tissue recovery agency for this state. Established in 1971, the organization acts as an intermediary between donor hospitals and recipient transplant centers. Gift of Life employs nearly 200 people and provides all services necessary for organ and tissue donation to occur.

  • Gift of Life Michigan has a part time Donation Coordinator I position within the clinical area. This position is located in the southeast region and will be responsible for day-to-day interaction between Michigan hospitals and Gift of Life Michigan. Responsibilities include engaging Michigan hospitals for their support of Gift of Life Michigan’s program goals and objectives; responding to potential organ and/or tissue donor referrals for on-site evaluation; participating in frequent huddles with care providers throughout the donation event, providing a supportive atmosphere for donor families and obtaining consent for organ and tissue donation, and other duties as assigned.
    The Donation Coordinator - level I will also facilitate the general activities required throughout the donor recovery period under the direction of the medical director, resource manager and other surgical recovery team members present in the operating room. 
    Qualifications: A minimum of 3 years of full time experience in a hospital setting or 18 months prior experience with an organ procurement organization. Critical care experience is a plus. The incumbent should be a licensed Registered Nurse, a licensed Physician's Assistant or have a bachelor's degree in science or applicable experience and related training.
